Heather Sandler, DVM
Dr. Heather grew up in Joplin, Mo. She has worked in the veterinary field since she was 15 years old as both a receptionist and veterinary assistant. Dr. Heather got her Bachelor's degree in Science from Missouri Southern State University. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she met her future husband Dr. Evan. The Doctors then did a clinical rotation at the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. Afterward, Dr. Heather and her husband moved to the Mohawk Valley in 2006. She practiced companion animal medicine at Herkimer Veterinary Associates for 6 years before starting Dr. Heather's House Calls then expanding to CNY Veterinary Medical Services with Dr. Evan.
While working at Herkimer, Dr. Heather honed her skills in companions animal medicine. Dr. Heather's areas of special interest include Dermatology, Nutrition, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, and Dentistry. She has maintained her passion for providing personal, one on one care. Starting Dr. Heather's House Calls has been a long time dream come true.
When not caring for animals, Dr. Heather enjoys spending time with her two wonderful children; her husband,Evan; their cat, Shadow; and the rest of their 2 and 4 legged family. She also enjoys music, photography, and Sci-fi books and movies.
Evan Sandler, DVM
Dr. Evan grew up in Central New York, where he found a love for animals, wildlife and nature. His desire, ever since boyhood was to care for pets. Dr. Evan started his journey at the State University College of Oneonta, where he received his Bachelors Degree, with a Biology major. His journey then took him thousands of miles away to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, in St. Kitts, West Indies, where he his future wife, Dr. Heather.
After years working in separate practices Dr. Evan and Dr. Heather decided it was time to become partners in medicine after being partners in life.
Dr. Evan has specific interests in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Soft Tissue Surgery.
When not at the hospital Dr. Evan enjoys spending time with his two children. He also has a love for baseball, good detective novels and enjoying all that the Upstate New York Area has to offer.
Amanda Shedd, DVM
Dr. Amanda Shedd grew up in, Fairfield, New York, where she developed her love for animals. After becoming a Licenced Veterinary Technician from SUNY Delhi, she knew she wanted to pursue a career as a Veterinarian. She obtained her undergraduate degree from SUNY Oswego. She then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at St. George's University and completed her clinical training at Cornell University. Her areas of interest are internal medicine, behavior, and dermatology. When not in the clinic, Dr. Shedd enjoys working out, hiking and spending time with her family. Dr. Shedd has one dog, Ginny, who is the true love of her life.
Jenny B., LVT; Practice Manager
Jenny has been a member of our team since we opened in October, 2011. She graduated from Delhi in 1998 and has been a practicing LVT since. Jenny has lived in Upstate New York her whole life. When she is not at work, she enjoys gardening, hiking and swimming. Jenny has a golden retriever, a mini dachshund, and 3 cats that she rescued.
Jen has been a member of CNY Veterinary since its conception. Starting as a kennel aid, her experience and leadership quickly led her to be head Veterinary Assistant. She is a native of Yorkville, and a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College, with an Associates Degree. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her furry family, which include dogs, cats, a horse, chickens, rats and ferrets. She also enjoys gardening and planting herbs.
Jennifer C., LVT; Head Technician
Jennifer C. began her career in veterinary medicine in 1998. She graduated with dual degrees in Veterinary Technology and Business Administration from SUNY Delhi in 2002. During her career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician, she developed a passion for reducing pain and improving mobility and quality of life for pets. Her experience spans general practice, and emergency, surgical, and pain management specialty services. Jennifer has a special interest in physical rehabilitation and is certified in Canine Medical Massage through Northwestern School of Animal Massage and Colorado Veterinary Medical Association. When not at work, Jennifer enjoys times outdoors with her family and painting. She has a Great Pyrenees Tucker and two senior cats, Halo and Linus, and a feisty 11 year old African Cichlid Fish.
Nicole joined the team in 2016. She is a graduated from SUNY Canton in 2015, earning her degree and becoming licensed as a veterinary technician. Nicole has one kitty named Thomas. Her favorite hobbies include music, outdoors, and peace and tranquility.
Jenn V. has been a member of the team since April of 2014. She attended SUNY Delhi and graduated as a licensed veterinary technician in 2014. Her hobbies include: drawing and watching television. Jenn has two dogs and six cats.
Adrianna joined our team in July of 2017. She graduated from SUNY Alfred with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Adrianna’s hobbies and interests include traveling, reading, netflix, hiking and napping. She has one dog, two cats, 4 guinea pigs and 1 bearded dragon.
Sarah joined the practice in October of 2015. She graduated from National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota earning her Applied Associates in Science in Veterinary Technology and earning her licensing. When not working, Sarah enjoys being outside on her hobby farm, hiking, binge watching TV series, and spending time with her husband, step daughter Avery and daughter Eve. She has four dogs, two cats, and several farm animals.
Jasmine has been a member of the CNY Veterinary family since April of 2013. She graduated from SUNY Delhi in 2012. Jasmine is a native of the Mohawk Valley, and loves spending time at home with her family, two cats and her dog.
Nancy joined our team in January of 2017. She graduated from SUNY Delhi in 1978. Her many years of experience has made her an invaluable member of the family. With her experience, she is the perfect technician to be watching and monitoring your pets overnight. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, 2 dogs, and 3 cats.
